Jake Moule secured first place with a thornback Ray of 7lb 15 1/4ozs.
Josh Atkinson picked up the remaining 2 point scoring places with Thornback Ray of 6lb 1 1/4ozs and 5lb 11 3/4ozs.

Spring can be a quiet time for sea anglers on the North Devon coast those prepared to travel can enjoy some fine sport from marks further up channel where stunningly marked thornback ray can be tempted from the murky tide ripped waters. Closer to home there is the chance of Bull Huss and rockling from rock marks. There are also bass to caught in the local estuaries.

Bideford Club member Stephen Found caught a fine specimen thornback ray scaling 13lb 10oz from an up Channel mark.
North Devon thornback
Ollie Passmore tempted this specimen thornback ray of 11lb 3oz from a North Devon Rock mark. Thornback ray are not often caught from North Devon rock marks but recent seasons have seen an upturn in these captures.

SHORE SPECIMENS FOR CMSAC Members
Combe Martin SAC members are venturing out in the cold to enjoy winter sport and compete in the clubs month long December competition.
Combe Martin SAC member Dan Welch caught this double figure specimen Bull Huss of 9lb 13oz. Fellow club member Mark Jones caught a thornback ray of 12lb 2oz to take the lead in the clubs December competition.
Eight Year Old Boats 16lb huss and ray
Eight Year Old Sonny Short enjoyed success on his first ever boat trip boating a thornback ray of 16lb and a fine bull Huss of 16lb.
Club Record thornback for Mark Jones
Combe Martin SAC member Mark Jones took a trip up Channel to beach this superb thornback ray of 14lb 8oz. The ray sets a new club shore record for CMSAC beating Kevin Legges thornback Ray of 13lb 12oz caught in 2006.
Up -Channel Thornies
Rob Scoines and Kody Chugg enjoyed success with thornback ray at a popular rock mark higher up the Bristol Channel. They landed eight ray to 8lb 1oz! The big advantage of fishing up channel is that dogfish are scarce so if you catch its generally ray or codling that take the bait.

Combe Martin SAC member Ross Stanway took a trip over the border into Somerset in Search of cod and was rewarded with this fine thornback of 9lb 9oz .
