Evening comp round 4- Good to see smiles at the end…

13 anglers fished in warm, still conditions . Ian Owen has drew on peg S and fished the pole over groundbait to land 2 carp and a good net of bream. This was Ian’s first victory on Tarka . Pete had a good carp of 12lb, after an hour, on bread flake to secure second spot of peg U. Stephen fished on peg B with worm, he lost 2 carp, but landed one for third.

Very hot conditions made for tricky fishing on Oaktree top pond for the 15 competitors, Neilsen Jeffery found some feeding margin specimens on peg 9. Kevin also caught some big carp in close on the pole from peg 3 in the middle of the dam. Martin Turner drew peg 17 and caught late in the match on a long pole shallow with pellets. Michael Blake caught on the pole and tip for 4th place.

North Devon Match Group hosted the first leg of our annual inter club event on Killock Lakes , the 12 a side match was fished in hot humid conditions which led to a close match. Pole fishing dominated with Simon John Allen coming out on top for Bude Anglers, but this sterling performance by their captain was not enough to prevent NDMG from winning on the day 164 points to 136 , over 350lb of fish were landed, and we all look forward to the return leg in September, thanks to all competitors and Killock Farm Shop for breakfasts and after match snack.

Thirteen anglers fished the second evening comp in the Tarka evening league. Martin drew peg B in the shallows and landed one carp on bread and some tench and skimmers on pole fished, worm and maggot to secure victory .2nd placed Colin drew on the deeper peg I he had a good carp and some bream on the method with robin red pellets,Pete Slade fished with luncheon meat on peg S for his third spot Martin landed a nice bream on peg H on the open end feeder for fourth.

North Devon Match Group  members fished the prolific Killock lake in warm dry conditions , the carp were more interested in spawning than feeding , despite this Neilsen was able to catch steadily on corn on the pole for a convincing win. Second spot was Kevin who used similar tactics and John’s third placed bag fell to paste also on the pole.Next week this venue is being used for the first leg of our annual interclub event against Bude Canal Anglers.

Our Worthy winner of our May festival 2018 with a perfect score of 4 points with a total weight of 434lb 13oz is Mr Steve Ford (MOSELLA UK / MARUKYU well done Steve well proud of you !!! In close second place with also 4 points and a total weight of 327lb 14oz is Chris Cameron ( MIDDY/ BAIT TECH) well done Chris! In third place was Ian Rowney with 6 points and a total weight of 375lb 1oz well done Ian!  What a week, thank you so much for your continued support it’s amazing we feel truly blessed to have you all supporting us thank you so much also for supporting the JO-OP it’s been one of the best supported weeks we have had , I can continue to buy new stock all the time we are supported so thank you been great to meet some new guys and to see the regular faces. 15anglers fished. Martin drew corner peg M and caught 2 good carp on bread on the pole plus some skimmer bream for top spot in the first of the evening series. Craig drew on the point peg F and had a nice bag of small bream on the pole with maggot for second spot, new member Stephen landed a nice carp on a bunch of dead red maggot on peg U to take third spot, 15 anglers took part on a mild still evening.

Stafford Moor Open – Junior Angler Success

An Open match  on Tanners and Woodpecker lakes. Had a full house of 40 anglers.

The weather was a horrible cold easterly wind with temperatures around 8 degrees today where is Spring !

Had a continental payout. Top weight of the day was from Ben Benjamin Broxson peg 19 on Tanners lake with 167lb 14oz fishing bomb and pellet and pole well done Ben ! In second place was Andy Dare peg 11 on woodpecker lake with 101lb 4oz, in third place was Chris Davis with 107lb 5oz from peg 2 on Tanners lake.

 

Its always great to see young anglers enjoying success as 13 year old Owen Newman did in this competition finishing a very creditable sixth and winning the silvers bag!

Beautiful hot still weather greeted NDMG members for the second summer league match, bites were at a premium on the day and John Lacey took top spot on peg 1 on the dam, he fished on a small groundbait feeder with red maggot bait at close range for a net of good roach ,second placed John Lisle had 4 nice skimmers on the tip on worm from peg 6,John Bailey caught 8 roach on the waggler for 3rd.
