Stafford Moor Top Three Top 200lb!

The latest open match result on Tanners and Woodpecker Lakes.  (Continental payout.)
Some fabulous weights as always from the Moor!
Top weight of the day from Benjamin Broxson  who had 283lb 6oz from peg 9 on Woodpecker Lake.
In 2nd place with 233lb 10oz was Phil Hardwick  from peg 11 on Tanners Lake.
In 3rd place was Ben Evenden with 227lb 13oz from Peg 8 on Woodpecker Lake.

Bideford and District Angling Club Monthly competition results:

1st Nathan Underwood 36lb 2oz

2nd  Steve Johnson 23lb 3oz

3rd Kevin Shears 21lb 6oz

Conditions very hot light southerly , Georges lake at Tarka swims produced another good match Nathan drew peg 26 in the shallow end and put a terrific net of smaller carp ,tench and a couple of larger bonus carp ,on the scales for a convincing victory. All caught on the pole to corn. Steve’s net of silver fish from peg 20 secured second place. Kevin fished the pole with maggot from peg 12 for third. These 3 anglers now dominate the league after 2 matches .

Just want to say how we have loved having you all here for our Over 50’s Festival 2021 sponsored by MOSELLA UK. Talking of MOSELLA UK can you believe that our sponsor has only gone and won the festival what a liberty !!! Anyone would think he’s a good fisherman ! Haha oh a huge Well done Vic Bush  amazing ! Vic won with a perfect score of just 4 points and a total weight of 427lb well done Vic well deserved 👍 🥇🏆thank you Vic for all the spot prizes kindly donated by yourself most appreciated and thank you for sponsoring our festival.
In second place with a score of just 5 points and a total weight of 560lb 2oz was Mark Layzell well done Mark 🥈
In third place with a score of 6 points and a total weight of 583lb 1oz was Clayton Hudson well done Clayton 🥉

Bideford Angling Club Evening competition No2

1st Steve Johnson 22lb 4oz

2nd Kevin Shears 21lb 10oz

19 fished A pleasant evening ,for a change, no rain although the breeze still has an edge. This 3hour event was won by Steve on peg 18 with a lovely net of skimmer bream caught at 5metres on dead red maggot, close second was last weeks winner Kevin on peg 22 a nice mixed net also to maggot on the pole. Nathan’s bag on peg 24 fell to corn in the margins.

Bideford Angling Club – Midweek Evening Match

It’s good to see the return of Bideford Angling Clubs Evening Summer League series heralding those longer summer evenings. Im always dismayed at how quickly the series passes by ! Many thanks to Martin for his regular updates.

Coarse section Tarka swims evening match No.1

Results:

1st Kevin Shears 27lb 5oz

2nd Les Polden 26lb 12oz

3rd  Nathan Underwood 21lb 4oz

4th Steve Ashton 13lb 12oz

5th Martin Turner 13lb 10oz

16 fished. Kevin made the perfect start to the evening series with a lovely net of bream caught on peg 16 in the margins on corn. Les fished on peg 8 and added 2 good carp, late on , to a good net of smaller fish on maggot for a close 2nd. Nathan fished long pole on peg 4 for third spot. Steve’s net of smaller skimmers caught over So simple groundbait was enough for 4th place.

QUALIFIER 1 – Results
Great day had by all on Saturday:
With every section being won with over 25lb there was 700lb+ of silvers between 39 anglers.
Winner on the day was Paul Purchase, Paul was on peg 20 on the Cornwall bank, Paul fished for everything, caught a few nice perch, skimmers and roach (around 100 fish) for a 32lb 4oz total. Well done Paul.

Big Bags From Stafford Moor

The latest  open match at Stafford Moor was held on Tanners and Woodpecker Lakes with a full house and continental payout.
Sam Powell was top  angler with a bag of  261lb 15oz from peg 1 on Woodpecker lake fishing long pole.
In 2nd place was Paul Goulding (lodge guest) with 216lb 8oz from peg 4 on Tanners.
In 3rd place was Dave Romain with 182lb 7oz from peg 20 on Woodpecker
  Next weeks Sunday match is already full  but there are still have some  this Wednesday so please Jo at Stafford Moor know if you would like to join the match.

2020 Bideford and District Angling Club Coarse Section Match Report

2020 Bideford and District Angling Club Coarse Section Match Secretary Report :
As I sit here another 1500 deaths in the UK has been announced on the news, I can only reflect on how lucky we were to have been able to have fished some of our scheduled events:
Our calendar opened with a trip to Morchard Road , this small venue rarely fails to produce and Keith Copland took the honours on a cold windswept day with an impressive 50lb net. February’s comp was held at Millpark , I almost cancelled as we were in the eye of storm “Ciara” ,the normally prolific water fished very hard in the difficult conditions , John Lisle mastered it on the day with a nice net of chub and carp. The March event went ahead on Wooda Lakes ,although we didn’t know at the time, we were staring down the barrels of a Covid 19 lockdown. My 55lb net was enough for victory , our youngest competitor Thomas Scott came home second.
Our worst fears were confirmed shortly after this and we didnt meet up again until the beginning of June, I tentatively arranged an evening sweepstake on Tarka , 13 turned up and David Bailey showed us how to do it with 20lb in the 3 hours. Aware that it was possible to fish matches in a safe manner I decided to run the Evening Series. Keith Copland led early stages with Tyler Scott close behind , Matt Cross won the second with David Bailey winning the third with 20lb from peg 19. Peg 2 produced the winner in match 4 for Martin Hawker, although Keith Mountjoy’s ,soft pellet approach, second place saw him begin to take command of the league at the halfway stage. Britney Shears won the next 2, almost ‘full house ‘ evening comps . Richard Jefferies , ‘yank and bank’ BDAC pest control officer put 18lb on the scales to win number 7. The final match in the foreshortened series included the pairs match, was fished on July 28th,we almost ran out of daylight but the conclusion was a victory in the pairs for Thomas Scott and Kev Shears with a combined total of 27lb 11oz .
My second overall on the night ensured victory in the overall standings 73 points to Keith Mountjoy 60 ,Kev Shears 56.
The Wednesday Evening Series again proved very popular with an average of 20 members turning up per match, the average catch 6.7 lb compared to 3.1 lb in 2019 , a great improvement , testament to the fantastic efforts of our fishery management team.
Our Monthly matches restarted in June on Tarka, Keith Mountjoy scored a victory with 20lb 10oz , young member Tyler Scott was a close second with 19lb 3oz. The July and August Competition saw veteran Colin Cherrington banished the Tarka jinx with 30lb nets to win both.
John West’s men from Plymouth Club came up for a rescheduled one leg interclub match, It was agreed that ,as we weren’t able to accommodate them on Tarka ,we would challenge them on Stuart Sharpe’s Wooda Lakes .The prolific fishery didn’t disappoint and BDAC ran out convincing winners 407lb to PDCAC 203lb . Bidefords Matt Cross showed us his catch and release technique with an empty 3rdkeepnet allowing winner Brintey to sneak in with 74lb off lake 1 , Captain John was top scorer for Plymouth with 67lb .
September’s comp back on Tarka was attended by 23 anglers , Kev Shears prevented Colin from the hat-trick but Mr Cherrington won the October match which proved to be our last match of 2020, with another 30lb net, this time off peg 12.
The final points in the 8 match series : Martin Turner 74 Steve Bailey and Colin Cherrington 47 Richard Jefferies 46 .
Our thanks must again go to all those people who made it possible for us to enjoy our sport .
