Stafford Carp – Winter Catches

(Below)Kevin Waldron banked five carp from the inlet swim on Beatties lake all caught on DNA secret 7 plum flavoured boilies a fabulous winter result.

(Below)) Nicholas Billett caught two carp 2  including this 30lb 2oz beauty from swim 14 up on lodge lake plus a 25lb 14oz. Both fish were caught on Responsive baits CSL soaked in responsive CSL liquid.

(Below)Liam Brookes and his friend Josh caught 5 fish out up to 25lb 5oz from the beach swim on Beatties lake using Sticky baits Manilla boilies heavily glutted in Manilla glug scattered with a throwing stick and used 2/3kg in 48 hours , fishing 17 wraps out.

PERSONAL BEST FOR 9 YEAR OLD JACK AND LOTS OF OTHER ELDORADO BEAUTIES FOR THE PAINTER FAMILY!

Paul Painter and his sons Harry 16 and Jack 9 decided to brave the weather and have a weekend fishing at Anglers Eldorado – and it certainly paid off seeing the youngest of them Jack catch his personal best at 27lbs 8oz!

Paul shared – “Myself, Harry, and Jack, had a good 48hrs on the Eldorado complex even though the weather was very rough!! We had quite a few Carp out of the bottom lake and had a few hours float fishing on the top lake which produced some lovely carp including Koi. Jack had a really memorable session when he smashed his Carp PB by 7 and a half pounds when he caught a 27lb 8oz Mirror on Saturday morning!!! He also managed to stalk out some Koi on floating crust from the Koi pond.”

MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS JACK – TO CATCH A FISH OF THAT SIZE SO YOUNG IS PRETTY AWESOME!! GREAT TO SEE YOU HAVING QUALITY FAMILY TIME ON THE BANK!

Carp from stormy waters

Alan Clarke fished from the Dam Wall on Lodge to tempt this beauty weighing in at 27lb 12oz caught using DT baits blend white pop up.

(Below) Oliver Kind  had 2 fish out from the Dam Wall on lodge lake up to 27lb caught on Pineapple & almond goo over Sticky Baits krill pop ups.

( Below) Tom Downing popped out to Stafford Moor on  with Antony Grigorjevs to shoot a where to fish feature to go in the March edition of Improve Your Coarse Fishing. Was a good day even though storm Ciara tried putting a halt on things!

Bideford and District Angling Club Coarse Section Monthly competition@ Mill Park Berrynarbor ,1st John Lisle 45lb 1oz 2nd Richard Jefferies 32lb 13oz 3rd Martin Turner 15lb 9oz 4th Steve Bailey 11lb 3oz 5th David Bailey 9lb 6oz 12 hardy/ foolish individuals ventured forth into storm “Ciara” , to fish our monthly match . The normally prolific lake fished very peculiarly with half the field blanking , no roach caught and only 20 odd large chub and carp landed. John’s net of 9 carp and one chub taken on method feeder and bomb and bread off peg 1 ran out the easy winner,  Richard Jefferies landed 3 good chub and 4 carp on similar tactics for second on peg 10. 4 carp put Martin Turner in 3rd spot. Steve’s 10 and a half pound common carp secured 4th.

Furzebray Winter Forties!

Furzebray again producing stunning specimens. Jack Gabriel banked the mirror carp known as “Orange Spot” as at weight of 42lb 12oz. Charlie Parkhouse banked “Sovereign” at a weight of 42lb and Andy White banked a brace of forties including “Star” at 41lb 8oz and Charlotte at 46lb 2oz. Furzebray was dug out in 2006 and stocked with an initial 200 carp in 2007. It has gone from strength to strength under the careful stewardship of Tony Kingdon and his father Martin.

Jennetts and Slade producing quality carp

( Below)Darren Baddick also fished the venue to bank common carp of 28lb 12oz and 22lb.

( Below)Paul Blake fished Jennetts Reservoir and banked a fine brace of common carp scaling 28lb 10oz and 22lb.

Stuart Wade has been putting the hours at Lower Slade  and has been rewarded with some nice carp here is one of the stockies that was put into the reservoir at 3lb to 5 lb in 2007 now at the weight of 17lb 8oz.  Stuart caught the fish on a critical balanced pop up over half a dozen freebies.

(Below)Aaron Bunning has this lovely 19.12 mirror from Upper Tamar recently. His first carp of 2020. Nash baits scopex squid boilies as always for Aaron.

(Below) Barry Lee has this cracking 14.10 common from lower Tamar over the weekend in pretty cold conditions. Barry cast to showing fish at 120 yards range and caught on a tiny popup and stick bag.
