Stephen Found won Bideford Angling Clubs 48-hour sea rover with a specimen smoothound of 13lb 11oz. Andrew Clements was runner up with a smoothound of12lb 4oz and Nathan Clements third with a smoothound of 8lb 12.5oz.

The September competition traditionally produces some big catches , but the torrential rain and accompanying thunderstorm, for the first couple of hours seemed to have dampened their appetites..
Match organiser Martin had a very slow start on “golden peg” 6 , but eventually did just enough to scoop victory, with mainly carp in the margins and various baits over hemp and micro pellets.
Les on peg 8 fished similarly for the second spot.
Keith had some late bonus carp on peg 21 to take third spot.
A close match , with a couple of good fish for any of the top ten making a big difference.

Nathan Clements was delighted to catch a huge gilthead bream scaling 8lb 2.25oz to win Bideford Angling Clubs 48hour roving sea match. This is one of the biggest gilthead bream recorded so far this summer from the South West coast and sets a new club record for BIdeford Angling Club. The weekends competition also saw numerous specimen smoothound caught and specimen small eyed ray.

Despite the fierce winds our junior members turned out in force for the penultimate competition of the junior calendar, over half the pegs on George’s lake were used.!
Poles and rods were gripped tightly as storm “Antoni” did it’s best to spoil the day.
Brodie, on peg 15 , put a cracking net of mainly carp on the scales to win the day. Paste on the pole his tactics.
Second spot went to Findley on peg 8 , his chosen tactic to combat the high winds was a method feeder.
Jenson fished similarly on peg 11 for a well earned third spot.
Despite some very challenging conditions the youngsters all managed to weigh in, well done all.

Jon Stevens took first and second in Bideford Angling Clubs Monthly sea rover with specimen smoothound of 10lb 10oz and 10lb 1oz. Andrew Clements was runner up with a small eyed ray of 8lb 14oz and Antony Smith forth with a smoothound of 8lb 11.5oz. 
Several anglers fished Appledore Shipbuilders August Rover but no fish of over 60% were registered. Members did catch several small bass conger and huss.

Our run of great weather came to an abrupt end on this the final evening competition of the year, the rain pessisted throughout the whole event, however some great nets were brought to the scales, Craig and Roger’s combined total caught on pegs 1and 15 respectively, was enough to scoop the honours.
Top weight on the night went to Kevin on peg 19 , his 33lb fell to paste on the pole in the lillypads.

10 Anglers fished the match today and the weather turned out to be quite a nice. All anglers caught fish with the fishing being slow at times for some, first place today when to Darren Polden with a magnificent bag of mixed fish for a weight of 71lbs 11oz on peg 6 fishing the feeder to the island, second place went to Richard jefferies on peg 15 with 29lbs 6oz fishing a pellet waggler and 8mm pellet 3rd place was Anthony Bentley on peg 14 with 28lbs 3oz and 4th place went to Stephen Paul Sheller with 28lbs 1oz next Rod and Reel match is at Tarka on the 27.8.23. Well done Darren polden on your catch.

All too soon our summer series has come to an end.
Tonight’s final match has again produced some great nets, perfect conditions ,warm with a light westerly breeze.
Keith has fished peg 24 ,with corn hookbaits, for a terrific 40lb net of large carp for victory.
Second spot went to Darren, who’s drawn the same peg 10 on consecutive weeks , another fine net of carp also on corn and paste.
Third place goes to Craig with a great net of almost all skimmer bream on soft pellet.
Nathan’s fourth spot ensures that his consistency has retained the midweek Championship

Our members enjoyed another very close match, this evening. It was the penultimate competition in the 10 match series, Keith has come out on top , from peg 18, fishing the pole to the edge of the lilly pads, fed heavily with dampened micro pellets and using a small soft pellet on the hook.
Richard has moved into joint second,in the league , paste on the pole in the weedbed on peg 15 secured second in the match.
League top three are Nathan Underwood on 115
Martin Turner and Richard Jeffries on 105.
