The weather was kinder to us ,on Saturday, for our third Junior event this summer .
Our winner,Sammy ,has fished on, the unfancied,peg 3 with a top kit, his net of good roach and skimmers was taken on maggot .
Brodie fished on peg 26,for second place, he has found some nice tench again taken on short pole tactics.
3rd place went to Imogen on the adjacent peg 25,using the long pole with paste .
Rudy James came in 4th on peg 1.
Our prize table was once again supported by the generosity of local shops.
A big thanks to our helpers on the day .

Appledore Shipbuilders JULY ROVER

12 Anglers fished the July Rover today.
Several Smoothounds were caught, weighed and released with the photos and weights presented at the weigh in. In fact only Smoothounds were recorded at the weigh in!
Many anglers reported large catches of Smoothounds today with a lot of fish around the 6lb mark.
First place went to Terry Dymond with one of 9lb 11ozs.
Martyn John was second with another of 9lb 9ozs and Andrew Atkinson 3rd with his best one weighing 9lb 6 1/2ozs.

A hot evening, the day after the summer equinox, saw club members gather for the 7th round of the series. Les continues his good form with a winning catch of bream ,tench and carp of peg 21 long pole worm over groundbait tactics.
Cyril came in second on peg 14 , feeder to the cage and pole and paste, caught a nice bag of mainly decent carp. Nathan, who now leads the league, landed a mainly tench and carp net on paste and worm baits,
Richard’s all carp 4th place was taken on meat.

Club members enjoyed another warm summer day on George’s lake Tarka Swims, with a light westerly breeze.
Richard has taken the honours with a cracking net of carp from peg 15, his catch fell mainly to bread fished on his infamous hit and hold carp tactics also to pole and paste. He scooped the golden peg bonus. Well done Rich.
The next 12 nets were all very close.
Roger came out best of the rest off peg 26 with a nice mixed catch, closely followed by Craig on peg 17 . Fourth place went to Mick Farron .

This evening’s competition was fished in a brisk Northwesterly breeze, blowing up towards the shallower end of George’s lake.
Paste fishing has been the most successful method , Nathan’s winning catch came off peg 19 , the next three places have also been on the paste . Cyril’s second spot was taken on peg 15 and included several decent carp..

Smoothound took the top 3 places in Appledore Shipbuilders Monthly Rover
Andrew Atkinson took the top 2 places with one of 12lb 3 3/4ozs and the next 11lb 9 3/4ozs. 3rd was Michael Hammett with his Smoothound weighing 11lb 4 1/2ozs.

Kyle Bishop won Combe Martin Saa Angling Clubs fish of the the season for Spring with a fine bull huss of 13lb 9oz.

David Jenkins was runner up with a gilthead bream of 3lb 9oz.

The earlier rain passed through and the competitors enjoyed a pleasant, but breezy evening. The top 3 positions probably changed several times in this, the third match in the league. Mike’s last gasp decent carp, added to a net of better bream proved to be the winning catch, on peg 19 pole fished worm and maggots.
Martin’s mainly smaller fish net on peg 8 on caster, pushed Nathan’s all paste carp bag into third place.
Martin takes a one point lead in the league at this early stage.

Our 3 hour evening match was well attended despite the wet weather, fortunately it cleared for the wiegh in.
Keith continues his run of good form, landing the winning catch from peg 9, carp on the pole with maggot hook baits. Nathan has fished similar tactics from peg 16 and despite losing several came in second on the night.
Martin’s 3rd placed catch was taken on peg 6 , on a top kit with caster hook bait.
The fishing remains quite tricky, although the silver fish are beginning to show, after spawning.
