Appledore Shipbuilders monthly Rover

James Atkinson won Appledore shipbuilders monthly Rover with a small eyed ray of 9lb 61/4oz. In second place was Richard Boone with a fine wrasse of 5lb 47/8oz and in third Andy Sanders with a thornback ray of 6lb 5oz.

As the water starts to warm up wrasse should start to show along the North Devons rock marks. Combe Martin SAC member Ollie Passmore set out after the species and was rewarded with a nice fish of 3lb 6oz.
Bull huss continue to provide sport after dark when Ollie Passmore enjoyed success with a huss of 10lb 11oz. (Below)
Boat anglers are continuing to enjoy boat sport off Ilfracombe with several spurdog to 18lb brought aboard John Barbeary’s boat Bluefin. (Below)
 

Appledore Shipbuilders Results

Twenty Three anglers fished Appledore Shipbuilders Roving Competition last weekend and struggled to find fish big enough to bring back to the scales – Hanna Curtis won the competition with a ballan wrasse scaling 3lb 51/2oz.

This weekends 24 hour Rover attracted less angers who caught more fish!

Winner was Kevin pike with a conger of 22lb 10oz and second Jack Pike with a conger of 16lb 15oz. Graham Snow was third with a thick lipped grey mullet scaling 3lb 1/2oz. The conger caught by Jack Pike sets a new Junior record for Appledore Shipbuilders.

Appledore Shipbuilders and Bideford 24 hour Rover Results

Michael Toogood’s terrific haul of eight spurdog that included seven double figure fish took the top three places in Appledore Shipbuilders twenty four hour rover. The three biggest scaled13lb 4oz, 12lb 8oz and 11lb 7oz. Cameron Atkinson landed a fine flounder of 2lb 4oz and returned the fish having heard of Michael’s staggering haul of spurs.

Phil Vanstone won Bideford and District Angling Clubs twenty four hour rover with a specimen whiting of 1lb 81/4oz. Dick Talbot was runner up with a whiting of 1lb 71/2oz and Phil Vanstone third with a bull huss of 8lb 15oz.

Andrew Atkinson secured victory in Appledore Shipbuilders Rover with a fine flounder of 2lb 21/4oz. In second and third place was Graham Snow with a flounder of 1lb105/8oz and 1lb 87/8oz. The Junior section was taken by Cleo Babb with a flounder of 1lb 1oz. Twenty seven keen members fished the event in a bitter East wind with temperatures barely above zero.
