The weather was forecast unsettled , and sure enough it was raining lol
However with 13 fishing it was going to be enjoyable with 3 sections and a winner ,so after everything is sorted 1 person couldnt make it ,so rethink lol easy enough to do and 12 of us when into the bag,
the morning was very slow for me as was the whole day and for a few others ,this is the 3rd match that has been like this and the question has to be asked ?
but here are the results.

Lee Werrett won Stafford Moors 2021 Fisho-Festival and £1000 with a bag if 183lb.

In 1st place was Nigel Rhodes  with 223lb 7oz from peg 11 on Woodpecker Lake.
In 2nd place was Steve Ford with 182lb 12oz from peg 2 on Tanners.
In 3rd place was Mark Layzel with 174lb 15oz from peg 5 on Woodpecker Lake.

The second leg of this annual 12 aside competition was held on George’s Lake , we got a brief soaking whilst setting up but the day improved for the 5 hour contest, Kevin led Bideford to a resounding victory, with an impressive net of mainly skimmer bream caught on the pole on peg 7 . Bideford filled the top 4 berths, 2nd place was Les with another pole caught net on peg 11 . Plymouth’s best, Graham Johnson took 5th spot with a feeder caught net of carp on peg 8. We thank the lads from Plymouth and hope to see them all again next time.

Bideford Angling Club have done a sterling job in helping to promote angling amongst their Junior membership throughout the summer.

Lucky, the pessimistic weather forecast proved unfounded , and our Juniors enjoyed another lovely afternoon on Georges lake . Thomas fished the pole on peg 17 with corn for a great net of skimmers to win the last match of the series. Mia fished her first match on peg 16 and added a 3lb carp to her net of tench to finish 2nd. The final points tally resulted in a draw in the over 14’s for first place between the Scott brothers , 56 points apiece.Count back on weigh saw Thomas take the Gold medal. In the under 14’s category Charlie Heddon collected Gold with 42 points.
Huge well done to all competitors and helpers for making this event possible. Thanks to BaitTech, for generous donations of prizes , Mervyn Beal for sponsoring the medals also to Summerlands for their support.

20 fished  in Sundays competition, held in mild but wet conditions.  Nathan’s terrific bag of carp and bream where caught on sweetcorn in the margins on peg14, Mike on the adjoining peg continues his great run with a similar catch . Richard got to grips with peg 18 for 3rd spot. The lake has once again produced excellent returns.

Ten club members ,representing our club, travelled to Cadover Lake on the edge of bodmin moor to fish the first leg of our annual interclub event. Humid conditions found the deep venues fish stocks in a tricky mood, Team captain ,Martin , landed the best individual catch of roach and skimmers on the pole , Second was Pat who’s catch included a fine 5lb bream. We must thank our hosts from Plymouth and look forward to the return leg on Tarka Swims on 31st of July.

Cofton Cup Fishing Competition

I was sent this from Cofton Holidays a venue near Dawlish whilst not North Devon it might be of interest to some of the areas anglers.

 

63lb net wins top spot in the prestigious

South Devon’s highly regarded coarse fishing destination, Cofton Holidays, has crowned Andy Everill as winner of its spring Cofton Cup Fishing competition.

A keen fisherman, this is Andy’s third title at Cofton having previously won Cofton Cup II and Cofton Cup V. The multi award-winning holiday park, hosted the sixth competition on its Mamhead Match Lake over five days of intensive fishing. The field was narrowed down from 36 anglers in the opening rounds to 14 in the final, with the remainder battling it out for the Plate competition.

Competing against 14 experienced anglers, Andy Everill scooped the Cofton Cup and £500 in the final with a total of 63.02lb from Peg 25. Andy also walked away with the prize for the heaviest fish of the week; during his qualifying heat on day three, Andy landed a carp weighing in at a whopping 11.03lb, earning him another £50.

Runner-up, Steve Bond, achieved a total haul of 49.04lb from Peg 22, earning him £250. Previous Cofton Cup winner Bob Rand at Peg 10 earned £150 in third place with a net of 43.10lb.

In the Plate competition, Nigel Stanley came out on top with a catch of 39.06lb from Peg 14, earning him Plate Champion and £100. Dave Walton came in 2nd with his 35lb net from Peg 26 earning him £50, and Craig Smith came 3rd and won a £50 meal voucher with his 32.03lb net from Peg 25.

The competition was fierce and was made even more challenging by the wet and windy weather conditions. The event saw three qualifiers take place over the course of the week, culminating in Friday’s grand final:

In 2nd place was Sam Powell with 203lb 12oz from peg 20 on Tanners Lake
In third place was Colin Horwood with 204lb 5oz from peg 15 on Woodpecker Lake.

Using pegs 4 to 11 the junior event produced some great catches, in this , the third match of the series. Top weight on the day was youngster Charlie with a lovely double figure net of skimmers and tench ( and terch! ) on peg 7 in the 3 hour competition .
