Open match on Tanners and Woodpecker lakes with a continental payout. winner on the day Zac Newton who bagged himself an impressive 344lb 1oz from peg 16 on Tanners lake fishing shallow on the pole 8mm pellets . In second place was Paul Morris who had 269lb 15oz from peg 18 on Woodpecker lake fishing down the edge /deck on the pole. In third place was Dave Stockton who had 227lb 13oz from peg 5 on Tanners lake fishing the waggler.
Frank Connolly and his son Kieren Connollyfrom Essex Lodge lake on swims 5 & 6 on the dam wall. They banked twenty carp between them all caught on DSTR baits.
(Above) Jamie Walden is the resident fishing coach at Bratton Water and put his angling skills to good use during a session at the venue banking five superb brown trout the best this stunning specimen of 10lb. All the trout were tempted using a small black bead headed hares ear nymph. The specimen brown is believed to be a wild trout that has grown on feeding on the rich food present in the lake that boasts crystal clear water where small imitative patterns often work well for brown trout. Jamie gave tuition to a group of four first time trout anglers during the weekend and guided them to success in hot sunny condition with the novices landing nine trout between them.

Dennis Toleman won Triple Hook Clubs latest Fly Fishing Match at Bratton Water with a four fish bag of rainbows totaling 9lb 8oz. John Vaughan was runner up with four fish for 8lb 7oz and Robbie Hancock third with four for 7lb 4oz.
John fished just off the bottom with orange booby whilst Dennis fished a little black Montana and a little orange blob. Rob fished a black and yellow lure.
Ali Laird had a frustrating session fishing for thin lipped mullet but was rewarded in style when this 4lb specimen was eventually tempted by his baited spinner in the Taw Estuary.
Stef Jones and Matt Druce enjoyed some fine sport over the weekend in Bideford Bay and beyond landing tope to 35lb and spurdog to 16lb 2oz along with bull huss.
Due to an administrative error there is a great opportunity to enjoy a days sport off Minehead aboard top Charter Boat Osprey Skippered by Steve Webber. The target species will be hard fighting tope , ray and hounds. Weather forecast is spot on with light winds and blue skies.
Its mid summer the longest days are here now and it doesn’t get any better out at the waters edge. Over the next few days it be would great to share a few images of summer at the waters edge. Blue skies, calm seas and clear water the lure fishers paradise. Daniel Welch has been enjoying some superb sport off North Devon’s spectacular coastline.
Awesome light gear fishing for pollack on a 16g Nomura rod. Loads of pollack around 4-5lb and got smashed up by a couple big ones. So moved to a slightly heavier setup and had a 10lb 3oz beauty caught on a size 4 fiiish candy green lure supplied by High Street Tackle
Owen Matthews and friend Darren Thomas had twenty one carp between them up on Lodge Lake on swims 12 & 13. They both used Sticky Baits Manilla 16mm boilies and also Nash Candy Nut Crush boilies in a 3 night stay.
Smoothound are still providing some rod bending action along the coast. Paul Hutchings landed six including two over 10lb in a short after work session this week.
